INTERVIEW: Muscular Teen Male Model Ryan Sandefur Shows his Strengths

Among the first things you notice about 19-year-old male model Ryan Sandefur are his piercing blue eyes. His muscular, 6’1” body is of course another advantage this rising male model has. His age may place him in the category of teen male model, but his strong presence certainly sets him in a group that transcends classifications. In this EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW, Ryan recounts how working out helped him gain respect, and how he stays in shape.

Ryan’s Stats

AGE:  19

HEIGHT: 6'1”

WEIGHT: 180lbs

SHOE: 11”

WAIST: 32”
EYES: blue
HAIR: brown
NECK: 16”
CHEST: 40”

WHERE DO YOU LIVE? Yatesville, Georgia

WHERE ARE YOU FROM ORIGINALLY? Born in Beaufort, South Carolina

At what age did you start your fitness/workout program, and why did you start?
I started when I was 16. back then I was picked on a lot because I didn't really fit in. But once I started working out it seemed that I began getting a lot of respect and people treated me very differently.

What do you feel is your best physical attribute? Any body parts you focus on the most in terms of improvement?
I would say my best physical attribute is my biceps; they are pretty big and respond immediately and remain pumped up longest during my workout. I focus on my abs the most for improvement. No matter how good they get, you can always improve on them.

What is your workout/exercise routine like?
My routine is a split type workout, where I group together chest and biceps, then back with shoulders. I also group triceps with legs and then I finish the week off with a slightly relaxed workout of forearms, traps and calves.

How about your diet — what do you eat and what do you avoid?
For a healthy diet I believe the biggest thing to remember is that protein is not an enemy, unless you intake more than two times your body weight in grams. So I try to get as much protein as possible throughout the day by eating lots of chicken, fish, and dairy products. I also take my multivitamins and drink lots of water to keep my body hydrated, which is also great for the skin. In addition, adequate rest is essential so my muscles can build and repair themselves.

How and when did you start modeling? What has been your proudest or most exciting moment so far in terms of modeling?
About two months ago people started telling me that I had a nice body and face for modeling. I didn't take them seriously because it seemed far fetched. But after actually trying and training hard it became a realistic possibility. So recently I had my first photo shoot with Peachtree Muscle Photography who I feel did a fine job displaying my potential for modeling. Although I am proud having worked with Peachtree Muscle Photography to begin my modeling career, this feature opportunity with modelJOCK is my proudest modeling experience so far. I never expected to receive this kind of attention.

Besides working out, do you play any sports?
Sports, well I ran track in middle and high school. When in ROTC I was on the athletic team and was captain of the Orienteering team. Orienteering is a navigation based sport which requires use of a compass, while running great distances to reach certain points.

What other kinds of work do you do? What are your long-term professional goals, both as a model and aside from that?
Well, presently my day job is a night job. I work part time as local grocery store night stocker. My professional goals are to one day act in movies or in theater, to one day appear on billboards, magazine covers and more web features. Also, aside from modeling, once my beauty is gone, I may later decide to pursue a career in Criminal Justice.

What is the best way for people to follow your work and progress?
I again thank modelJOCK for this feature opportunity. I hope my words will in some way inspire others to enter the industry and believe in their potential for greater things in life. This exposure is awesome and I am genuinely grateful.

INTERVIEW: What's Behind Christopher Downey's Bulging Muscles

Some muscular male fitness experts keep their workout secrets to themselves. But not Christopher Downey. Through his blog, this Chicago-based male fitness expert is helping others who are looking to get in shape and build bulging muscles that are sure to get attention. In this EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW with modelJOCK.com, Christopher shares some of his advice — as well as plenty photos of his impressive muscular form.

Christopher’s Stats
FULL NAME:Christopher J Downey (Joey D)
AGE: 32
HEIGHT: 6'
WEIGHT: 220lbs
SHOE: 12
WAIST:32
CHEST: 48"
BICEPS: 18"
LEGS: 28"
WHAT CITY DO YOU LIVE IN? Chicago
WHERE ARE YOU FROM ORIGINALLY? Lafayette, Indiana

At what age did you start your fitness/workout program, and why did you start?
I began working out at 16. I was 140 lbs growing up and wasn't into sports. My cousin was a football player but also a bit into bodybuilding, so he got me started in the gym and I never looked back.

What do you feel is your best physical attribute? Any body parts you focus on the most in terms of improvement?

I get a lot of compliments on my traps, chest, and ass. I am most proud of my legs. They are the most difficult for me to grow and I believe they can never be big enough. I focus mostly on my legs/calves and abs for improvement. Everything else follows from strong muscular legs, so, I work them the most and everything else follows.

What is your workout/exercise routine like?

May - August I work out seven days a week and two times a day Monday-Friday. This is a very advanced routine, and I wouldn't recommend it to most people. The most important thing to remember if you do this is that if you need to take a day off, take it off. From September - April I hit the gym five to six days a week and hit each body part once a week, except legs, I'll do twice. All my workouts are posted on my blog, www.downeyworksout.blogspot.com.

How about your diet — what do you eat and what do you avoid?

I used to be able to eat anything, but once I hit 30 I started watching my diet more. I stick to steak and chicken, veggies, sweet potatoes, whole wheat or oats, and egg whites. I have one cheat day a week (usually Sunday) where I'll eat whatever I want. I never drink soda and always cook my own food. If it comes out of a box or the freezer it's not as healthy as if you cook it fresh.

How and when did you start your fitness blog?

I started my fitness blog July 2007. I had received a ton of questions in the gym about my routine and diet, so I decided it was time to write it all down and publish it. So my goals with the blog are to inform people about my methods of training and hopefully inspire them to reach their goals. The response has been HUGE. Not a day goes by that I don't get another reader or an email just to tell me that someone is using what I am putting out there to reach their fitness goals. I LOVE the feedback and welcome it. I also, personally respond to everyone that contacts me with questions or comments, so keep them coming!

Besides working out, do you play any sports?

I play no sports. In the summer, I will bike and swim quite a bit, but I don't do any sports other than that.

What kind of work do you do when you're not working out? What are your long-term  goals?

I have a real estate license and my BA in Architecture / Interior Design. With that I had been working as a developer for many years, but, this last January, I decided it was time for a change. I am going back to school this fall to start working on my PsyD. I am going to concentrate on Child / Adolescent Psych with a Master's in Health and Fitness. I want to help kids with their depression, bullying, identity crisis and to ultimately stay healthy both mentally and physically. My long-term goals in working out are to just keep growing and perfecting my physique. I will continue to take clients and help them achieve their goals as well.

What is the best way for people to follow your work and progress?
Definitely the best way is to check out my blog — www.downeyworksout.blogspot.com. I encourage everyone to join the blog publicly so they can get all the latest updates. From the blog you can reach my YouTube page and get in touch with me directly.

INTERVIEW: Male Model Syd Brisbane Commands Attention with Muscular Form

It's hard not to notice Syd Brisbane when you see him in a photo. This muscular male model commands your attention with his look as well as his well-built, six-foot frame. His natural good looks as well as the results of his commitment to physical fitness come together with impressive results in his portfolio. In this EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW, this impressive 24-year-old shares his thoughts about fitness, modeling and goals.

Syd's Stats
AGE: 24
HEIGHT: 6'0”
WEIGHT: 174
SHOE: 12.5
WAIST: 30"
CHEST: 32"
WHERE DO YOU LIVE? Miami, Florida
WHERE ARE YOU FROM ORIGINALLY? Kansas City, Missouri

At what age did you start your fitness/workout program, and why did you start?

From infancy it seems sports and competition have been part of my life. When I was young, soccer was my favorite. In high school I was introduced to American football, then track & field. In my freshman year of college, I began to realize how important it was to take care of myself. Entering college with a healthy mindset and working on my body, flexibility, and techniques for the upcoming season made me feel ahead of the game. I took in as much as I could from workouts, and also from my strength and conditioning coach. I am still learning each and every day. Teaching others what I know, learning from other fitness enthusiasts makes my job that much more enjoyable.

What do you feel is your best physical attribute? Any body parts you focus on the most in terms of improvement?
I know I am blessed with great genes. I am grateful to my parents for that, but I really haven’t thought about my best physical attribute. If anything, perhaps my freckles, brown eyes, or abs make me a standout, based on what others have told me. I try to improve on everything, personal training and attention to my health. Importantly, for modeling I work to maintain my look, feel and enjoyment of life overall.

What is your workout/exercise routine?
My workout routine is always evolving, which makes it enjoyable. Sometimes I can fit in two workouts every other day, but usually this is not the case. My approach is a mixture of anaerobic and aerobic exercises. Trail running, weightlifting, cross fit, burnouts and ring exercise are all incorporated in combination or isolated categories. It really depends on how I feel that day. But I always try to keep my routine well balanced and maintain a healthy eating style.

How about your diet — what do you eat and what do you avoid?
To be honest, this is tricky I love to eat. I can eat everything and anything; my eyes are usually too big for my stomach. Even though I am hungry all day I still watch what I eat. After eating healthy for a couple of weeks or months it's pretty hard to get out of the routine. Yes, on occasion I order pizza and fill up. The only thing I really avoid is fast food and not eating.

How and when did you start modeling? What has been your proudest or most exciting moment so far?
I started about two years ago. It was just to make some extra cash doing promotional modeling. I really didn’t take it seriously until I recently began work with a talent assistant. Since then I have received offers from top photographers, been featured on OhLaLamag.com and now am featured on ModelJock.com. I was also recently granted an editorial feature for Bello Magazine, to be photographed by Kemuel Valdes (of Miami Florida). Connecting with industry professionals is so exciting. Their attention to my look is affirmation of my talent and potential. It's always a pleasure getting paid for showing off the eye of a photographer.

Besides working out, do you play any sports?
Yes, I enjoy biking, trail running, football, basketball; pretty much all sports and anything competitive. I am part of a sponsored obstacle running team here in Miami.

Besides modeling, do you do other kinds of work and if so, what do you do? What are your long-term professional goals, both as a model and aside from that?
I am very fortunate to be a personal trainer and gym manager. I love my job and I love modeling. I have some interest in acting, doing commercials and possibly film work. I will continue modeling as long as I can be successful at it. Then, later on when things change I will go to the next challenge or interest.

What is the best way for people to follow your work and progress?

Besides working out, do you play any sports?
I love running. I also play tennis, but not as much as I used to.

What are your long-term professional goals, both as a model and aside from that?
I study fashion technology, so modeling is a great way to meet interesting people in the buisiness. I don't have big expectations from modeling because I'm aware of my shortcomings.
