With the holidays wrapping up soon, it's never too late to start honing in on the best exercise and fitness routine to get in shape. I found a few helpful guides that can get you in model shape (and don't forget, I'll be posting more in-depth tips from the models models themselves, right here!).

There's an awful lot you can do to keep in shape on the beach. Buffalo-based male model and athlete Russell Scheiss joined me for a beautiful shoot on the shores of Lake Ontario, showing off his skills playing football, frisbee, swimming and volleyball. Be sure to check out the video, where you'll see the tips he gets from his friend, fellow model Nicholas; and they also clown around quite a bit (you'll even get to see Russell's "Scarface" act). A picture perfect day, and some great shots of this very sporting male model.

I never imagined how expensive it could be to play paintball, but during a very interesting shoot with New York City-based model Gio, I learned that it takes hundreds of dollars of investment to get the right equipment. Of course, it also takes hundreds of hours of time to stay in shape like Gio does -- his abs alone are a testament to that. We'll be featuring more photos of Gio in the future, so stay tuned!
Abs of steel work great for paintball.

One of the earliest models I worked with was Brian, who is now a South Florida-based Web design guru. A long-time sports fanatic, Brian seems to be a natural with the football, and his dedication to the sport has been one of the reasons he's stayed in such excellent shape. Brian was a featured model in my 2009 calendar, "California Dreaming," and with his natural poise and well-maintained form, I hope he'll be in several of my projects in the future.

California-based model and athlete Hugo joined me in Redding, California, and shares a behind-the-scenes video and shots from our recent photoshoot. After showing some of his soccer skills, Hugo explains a bit about California slang -- "gnarly," "shredding," and everything you need to know to communicate in his world. Then he demonstrates his boxing ability before posing in front of some classic retro motel signage. Stay tuned for part 2, "In The Sun," which will be posted with photos and video from the beach, on our sister site, portfolioLATINO (www.portfoliolatino.com).
